Effectively Promote Your Website With These Tips

Graphic representation of the WWW.Image via Wikipedia

By Julie Johnson

A few years ago, advertising your business was a simple task. Businesses utilized billboards and newspaper ads to get their name out into the public. Back then this was one of the most successful marketing strategies that a business could use, today it is not as profitable. Instead of looking towards billboard and newspapers for a service, customer now log onto the internet and everything they are looking for is right at their fingertips.

This means essentially that no matter what business you are in, you will need to stake a claim on the web for your business or get plowed over by your competitors. Creating an internet marketing plan for your business should include at least the three following players, Yahoo, Bing and of course internet giant Google, because if people are going to look for you on the web, they are more than likely going to look you up under one of the three major search engines.

Many companies create a great website, but do little to improve their rankings on the major search engines, which mean that they are missing out on potential business. The research supports that when people search something on Google at least 50% of them will click on the first site that comes up under those search results. And so if that isn't you, then you may be missing out on potential business.

There are two main factors that go into making your website visible by others. The first has to do with your content links. You want to make sure that the link you are including are relevant to the information and link to well maintained sites. The second factor is making sure that the content on the website is not only fresh but informative. You want the the visitors to your site can be properly informed and you also want the content to attract the search engine spiders to your site, as this will increase your web rankings.

Doing these two things can really help enhance your website and help move it to a higher ranking for your chosen keywords. Search engine optimization is something that can be accomplished by any company willing to put forth the effort and understanding the importance of good links and relevant, keyword rich content.

Why Market Research Surveys Are Essential

By Bart Icles

Before starting up any business, market research is always essential. Studying the target market helps companies get information as to the market size, what they want in a particular product, how they react to different kinds of promotions, or basically just about everything that they need to know about the target market. The result of the market research generally dictates the feasibility of the products or services that the company is planning to provide. It also gives the company an idea on what marketing strategy to apply in their products or services.

Market research is usually done through market research surveys. Companies spend a portion of their resources in conducting market research surveys. Usually they hire market research specialists to do the market research surveys for them. The market specialists in turn develop the surveys and conduct them.

Usually what they do is pay qualified individuals to take the market research surveys. Paid market research surveys are usually available online. This is also a venture that people who want to earn extra cash while giving out their opinion could take advantage of.

Before they give out the survey they make sure that the ones who will take the survey fits their target respondents. Information such as age, gender, educational background, average household size, average income, etc. make them determine if the person to be given the market research survey to is what they are looking for.

Paying people to take their market research surveys ensures them that the ones taking the survey would finish the surveys (which are usually long) and they are more likely to get their in-depth and honest opinions on the surveys. This actually works both ways. The company get their much needed information while on the other hand, the people whom they get information from is compensated for their opinion and their time to finish the survey.

The success of market research surveys always depend on how effective the surveys are formulated and of course, the number of respondents. Every question asked in the survey should lead to relevant information and it is important that all information that the company needs to know should be obtained. Having too few respondents might not be indicative of the overall opinion of the target. The more the respondents, the better. But of course the more the respondents, the more the company would pay out. Determining the respondents, therefore, should be studied first before conducting the survey.

Hiring good and experienced marketing specialists is very essential if the company wants their market research to be successful. Investing in market research is always a smart move since the profit of a company always depends on its marketability.

Leadership Development: What Leadership Is All About

By Bart Icles

Many people find it easy to define and explain leadership. However, not many people find it easy to practice effective leadership. Indeed, effective leadership appears to be quite difficult to find these days, especially with many leaders who fail to understand that behavior is far more important than skills. There are leaders who are not able to see that when people trust and respect them, it is far easier to lead those under them. More than just the skills that they possess, leaders must learn to behave like leaders so that people will continue to look up to them.

It is also important to note that there is a difference between management and leadership. While management involves planning, organizing, directing, and communicating, leadership (on the other hand) involves the different qualities needed to lead people to a single direction. These qualities can include a degree of personal charisma, commitment, compassion, confidence, courage, determination, honesty, humility, integrity, passion, sensitivity, sincerity, and wisdom.

One should also understand that there are some who are naturally born to become leaders. However, this does not mean that one cannot learn how to become a leader. Many people do not seek to become leaders, while there are those who want to become one. Anyone who wants to become a leader can always develop a certain level of leadership ability. In fact, most of the qualities needed by a leader, like charisma and confidence, can be developed further through experience in a leadership role. Leadership development training programs aim to show people how they can become leaders. A leadership development program can also help people learn the different qualities and behavior needed so that others can look up to them as leaders.

There are different kinds of leadership styles. Some leaders can even take on several leadership styles, depending on what certain circumstances need. In many cases, people who are new to leadership roles (like supervision and management) often feel the pressure to lead people in a rather dominant way. In some cases, this might just be what the team needs but for mature teams, dominant leadership is definitely not the answer.

It can be quite tricky to determine which leadership style to take on given a particular situation. Through leadership development training programs, leaders can learn how to adjust or adapt to certain situations so they can effectively direct their team through different challenges. Moreover, a leadership development program can also help leaders learn how to work well with their teams so they can achieve common goals.

Ad Tracking - How to Make The Most Of Analytics And Statistics

By Anne Torres

Now that you've got your site up, you're only loving that rush of traffic you've been getting so far. Your marketing plan looks very effective with your hits increasing consistently. Now you think you've hit it bull's eye with your fail-safe marketing strategies and consistent tracking software.

The question is, is all that traffic helpful? Regrettably, maybe not. That's because not all traffic will give you sales. The kind of traffic you need is the one that converts to a sale and to build up on this, you need to differentiate between good traffic and bad traffic using your statistics and a web traffic analyzer.

Telling good from bad traffic begins with visitor tracking or hit counters. An ad tracking software or service will bring you more information than this such as where your visitors are located, which web pages they frequent, the length of their visit and the forms and images they download. If you know how significant analyzing your traffic is, you'll value all this information that will be made available when you track your ads.

For instance, knowing where your visitors are will give you an idea how to effectively customize your services. If you're getting very little traffic from your international or out-of-town clients, you might want to lower your shipment rates to make them more interested. In terms of Internet marketing, knowing from which search engine your visitors are will give you an idea how to adjust your strategies to improve your ranking on the search engine where you're currently not that flourishing.

If you know which pages are viewed the least, you can improve their design or add more engaging content to make them perform better. If you home page rarely gets clicked, which means you barely get visitors to check out the rest of your site, then it's clearly not doing its job.

As a result, good traffic is traffic that converts into a sale while bad traffic is that which does not bring anything that the site or company it represents can benefit from. It doesn't mean, however, that a visit that does not convert into a sale is automatically bad. One thing that may be considered is whether a visitor is there for the first time or for a specific number of times. If a first visit does not bring about a sale and is not repeated, then it's probably bad traffic. But if a visitor has been in and out of the site without necessarily purchasing anything, it could be that he is still considering his options. This traffic obviously has good budding for turning into a sale and could, therefore, be considered good.

Beware Of Spyware Threats ? The Top Ten

By Susan Reynolds

No net-savvy user can underestimate the danger posed by Spyware. These malicious programs cause losses worth millions of dollars to corporates and individuals alike and huge amounts of money are spent in fighting these fast breeding threats. Spyware programs can lurk in your data, stealing crucial information like credit card numbers and personal browsing history. To be forewarned is to be forearmed. So here's a list of the most dangerous spyware doing the rounds, brought to you through FaceTime Security Labs.

Gator, one of the earliest spywares, memorizes the password of a site so that it can be popped up for gaining entry the next time you visit that website. Irritating popups keep opening up when you try to access your site due to Gator's activity. The creator of this program, Claria, has attempted to smoothen out this retrieval software, but the popup nuisance persists.

CoolWebSearch is second on the list and it has earned the reputation of being the most irksome program that has many variants. It directs the user to CoolWebSearch.com or Datanotary.com by manipulating the browser. It?s extremely tricky to uninstall and users must never try it manually.

180SearchAssistant is another one of those pranksters that is bent on offering you pop ups of sites resembling your search keyword. Emoticons and wallpaper come as addition gift wraps along with this software. Newer version, however, offer some respite with their add/remove program and uninstall features.

Huntbar can be as frustrating as they get. Huntbar has a modus operandi by which it creates its own toolbar on the internet explorer. Using any other search engine proves futile too as it will keep directing the user to its own page. Furthermore, it ends up changing the home page as well as the search engine setting, which leads the users to their server every time they use the search engine. And to add insult to injury, it drains the memory by 15%.

Cydoor is the next in line among its illustrious brothers and sisters. The main source of this program is the peer to peer (P2P) software. Much like the others mentioned above, it frustrates the users no end by incessant advertisement pop ups and also tracks the browser history.

ISTbar latches on to your data through ActiveX and javascript installations. It transmits your personal browsing history to sites like my-internet.info and Blazefind.com, thus compromising your computer security.

Various features of WhenU-DesktopBar includes ad pop ups, tracking of browsing history and an ability to run codes from a far off server using only update settings. Searches may end up in special offers and coupons being flashed on the monitor.

New.net masquerades as a seller of non-standard top domain names which can cause a lot of grief. This program should be promptly cleaned out from your system.

IEplugin uses the same tactics as Huntbar in that it sets up its own toolbar on your browser. It monitors all your activity on the Net and uses that information maliciously.

BargainBuddy was once an infamous and ubiquitous program. Distributed by BullzEye Network, it would set up browser Helper Object to keep an eye on the system. It would study the keywords being used and would send advertisement your way based on that.
